Japanese currency is Yen, which symbol is ￥.
Yen coins are:
￥1 (about 0.01 USD),￥5 (about 0.05 USD), ￥10 (about 0.10 USD), ￥50 (about 0.50 USD) , ￥100 (about 1 USD) and ￥500 (about 5.00 USD).
Paper money are:
￥1,000 (about 10.23 USD), ￥2,000 (about 20.46 USD), ￥5,000 (about 51.16 USD) and ￥10,000 (about 102.32 USD).
Remember that you can change paper money in your currency when you leave, but coins are not changed.
